Metallic
Silver Effects
In the past, gold and silver effects could only be produced
using more complex printing systems such as offset and flexo
presses, screen printing equipment or by foil stamping.
Each of these technologies requires plate processing, making
it difficult and costly to produce metallic graphics in
small quantities. The revolutionary new XC-540MT has transformed
this process. For the first time, professionals can take
full advantage of Roland’s advanced inkjet technology to
|

|
| produce
brilliant metallic graphics on demand – easily, profitably,
and in any quantity. With Metallic
Silver ECO-SOL MAX ink, thousands of new metallic colors
are available. Metallic graphics command premium pricing
and add sophistication to any graphic or marketing message.
Metallic Silver ECO-SOL MAX ink has been recognized as a
DPI Product of the Year, an accolade that reflects its exceptional
image quality. |
Automated
Ink Circulation System
To prevent the pigments in metallic silver and white inks
from settling, the XC-540MT comes with Roland’s unique,
patent-pending automated ink circulation system. The system
automatically reduces waste of white and metallic silver
ink by up to 84% for dramatically lower running costs. The
system ensures exceptional image quality throughout the
longest production runs. |
VersaWorks
RIP Software Included
VersaWorks RIP software has been developed exclusively
for Roland inkjet printers and printer/cutters. This true
Adobe PostScript 3 RIP ensures exceptional production
output with unmatched ease of use and incorporates the
latest Adobe CPSI 3019 engine.

VersaWorks supports the Roland Color system which accurately
reproduces spot colors from color charts and swatch books
including more than 1,000 standard colors and 512 metallic
colors. For white ink applications, you can select from
either single pass or dual pass modes.
With
VersaWorks, you can choose from print options including
a high-speed mode for production banner printing, the
MAX Impact preset for vivid outdoor graphics and Artistic
mode for exceptional indoor graphics. In addition, VersaWorks
features Variable Data Printing and supports up to four
Roland devices simultaneously including printers, printer/cutters
and cutters. It automatically estimates the ink usage
and print time for each graphic so you can accurately
monitor time and costs.
VersaWorks
features include embedded ICC profile support, ink level
adjustment tools, software proofing capabilities, error
diffusion for outstanding print quality and advanced cropping,
tiling and nesting options. Support for Roland cutters
allows you to pair a Roland cutter with any wide-format
or desktop printer for print/cut applications. The PerfCut
function produces precision perforated cut lines. VersaWorks
4.0 is fully compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP and
2000. |
Print/Cut
Advantage
The XC-540MT streamlines the production process by automatically
contour cutting printed graphics. By eliminating the need
to reload and reposition graphics, the XC-540MT integrated
printer/cutter saves valuable time and effort. |
 |
Quadralign™
For laminating graphics, simply remove prints, laminate
and reload them for precision cutting. The Quadralign four-point
optical registration system automatically realigns the cutting
path and compensates for skew and distortion. The XC-540MT
also functions as stand-alone vinyl cutter. |
Eco-Sol
Max Ink
Eco-Sol Max is a remarkable innovation in ink technology,
offering fast drying time, high density, wide color gamut,
rugged scratch resistance, low cost per square foot, and
broad uncoated media support. In addition, ECO-SOL MAX is
virtually odorless. |
 |
For the standard XC-540MT configuration, ECO-SOL MAX comes
in CMYK+Mt+W ink sets (220ml cartridges). A double white
model is also available (CMYK+WW). ECO-SOL MAX graphics
are water and UV resistant up to 3 years outdoors* for CMYK
graphics, up to 1 year outdoors for White ink and 1-3 years
outdoors for Metallic Silver ink.
* Outdoor durability
is based on accelerated weather tests. Results may vary
depending upon location and application. Dry times vary
depending on specific media characteristics. Lamination
may be required for some applications or environmental
conditions.

Roland
Intelligent Pass Control Technology
Roland Intelligent Pass Control technology developed by
Roland software engineers represents the pinnacle of inkjet
printing. This patent-pending system precisely controls
dot placement between passes and delivers unprecedented
imaging performance in all resolutions. The technology actually
enhances image quality at higher print speeds thereby increasing
productivity. As a result, the XC-540MT produces smooth
gradations and flawless solid colors while achieving faster
throughput with virtually no banding in all print modes. |
|
|
Advanced
Media Handling A
true production printer, the XC-540MT features an upgraded
media feed and take-up system accommodating rolls of up
to 66 lbs. for long, unattended printing. Seven permanent
repositionable pinch rollers enhance image quality through
even the longest print runs. In addition, the XC-540MT features
media guides, a vacuum platen and twin head heights to ensure
correct media feed for thin or lighter media. |
Integrated
Tri-Heater System
The XC-540MT’s integrated tri-heater system dries prints
quickly even in high-speed modes for immediate finishing,
installation or collection by the take-up system. The system
features three components: a pre-heater that improves media
receptiveness, a print heater to accelerate ink fastness
and brightness, and a dryer to accelerate the drying process
and improve productivity, workability and scratch resistance.
All can be controlled from either the printer panel or Roland
VersaWorks. |
DU-540 Dryer System
The DU-540 heater/blower
is included with the XC-540MT. Depending on the media,
it is necessary to use the included DU-540 dryer/blower
unit to ensure proper ink adhesion and to assist with
dry times. the DU-540 is also recommended to be ON when
printing with the metallic silver and white ink configuration.
Roland recommends 15 minutes of drying time in order for
the metallic silver or white ink to dry fully. This is
important in print modes where CMYK is printed on top
of white or metallic silver. Testing prior to beginning
production is highly recommended. |
 |
High-Speed
Network Connection
Equipped with Roland’s own 100 BASE-TX/10 BASE-T interface,
the VS-640 connects seamlessly to office networks without
additional software, achieving an increased data transmission
rate of 100 Mb/sec. This makes it easy to configure a highly
efficient printing environment. |
ECO-SOL
Media
ECO-SOL Media is developed especially for Roland ECO-SOL
MAX ink and includes a wide selection of competitively priced,
uncoated adhesive-backed vinyls and other popular substrates.
The line-up currently consists of glossy, matte, clear and
translucent calendered, premium cast vinyl, premium reflective
vinyl, view-through vinyl, flame retardant scrim banner,
blockout scrim banner and solvent glossy paper. All Roland
media is carefully tested and profiled to consistently achieve
high-quality results. |
